Question

Hi There,

In previous posts I have asked about the number of viewers, I have seen the estimated number of viewers for a 8 vCore VPS to be around 400 for a single stream.

Is that for a WebRTC stream or HLS?  From my tests I can see WebRTC is far more intensive. If that metric is for WebRTC what would that equate to for a purely HLS (non WebRTC) stream?

Thanks,

Simon.

Hi Simon,

It appears as I missed something here so I'm sorry for that. Let me try to answer it again.
In HLS playback, the bottleneck is generally on the Bandwidth side. The server should have enough Bandwidth for viewers and HLS can have 4-5 times more viewers than WebRTC.

e.g., If the video bitrate is 2Mbps, the server should have 4Gbps bandwidth for serving 2000 viewers or if your viewers are watching at 1Mbps and when you support 800-1000 viewers in HLS for 4 cores server then you need to have 1Gps IP bandwidth.
