NickM
Hi, We've spun up an AWS EC2 instance from the AWS Marketplace, so our license costs are currently being billed that way. If we were to purchase an up-front license, are we able to apply that to the EC2 instance and stop the marketplace subscription? Thanks, Nick
0 Yash
Hi @NickM Hope you are fine. Yes, you can install the Ant media server enterprise edition manually on your EC2 instance and apply the license key. For installation of AMS please refer https://resources.antmedia.io/docs/installation or you can also the check the video on Please let us know if you face any issue. You can also raise the ticket on support@antmedia.io. Regards, Yash
0 NickM
Hi Yash, Thanks for your response. Does this mean that we can only do this if we build a new instance and install Ant Media Server ourselves? Or can we turn a marketplace-bought instance into an enterprise instance? Thanks, Nick
0 Yash
Hi @NickM Yes, you need to build the new instance and install the AMS as per documentation to use your own license key. Actually marketplace bought instance is also a enterprise edition which billed you on per hour basis and there is no option to use your own license key if you want to use any different license type like hourly/monthly/annual/perpetual. You can also migrate your data from old server to new server as well. Please check https://resources.antmedia.io/docs/upgrade-cloud-marketplace-ami-instance I hope it is clear. 0 tcwalker5
I'm new to both AMS and AWS marketplace and am about to make a purchase. Why would one choose marketplace over direct license? Is it to have unified billing and becomes worth the higher cost?
0 Yash
Hi @tcwalker5 Thanks for your question. Let me try to answer. On AWS marketplace or any other marketplace where Ant media server is available, the AMS image is already configured and you can directly launch it few clicks so you do not have to install the Ant media server manually. Also on AWS and Azure, autoscaling structure is available so you can easily scale up your cluster/instances using marketplace images. If you want to use direct license with different license types then first you need to install the AMS on your VM by following installation guide. For pricing of licenses please check https://antmedia.io/. You can also reach out to us on contact@antmedia.io and for technical queries support@antmedia.io. Hi,

If we were to purchase an up-front license, are we able to apply that to the EC2 instance and stop the marketplace subscription?
Thanks,
