Hackathon Starter Kit

Hi,

- The T&C for the participation linked from the PDF is not accessible (I have sent a request to see it, not sure who gets it)

- The requirement of "Open Source" is new to me and is a bit vague. Do you require all submissions to come with one of the so called open source licenses as well, or do you mean that the jury wants to see the source code for the evaluation only? I am thinking about participants who might want to evolve the project into a product?

"If it is a web based application, the attendee needs to send us a WAR file." - I don't quite like the model where the media server functionality is mixed with the web application that uses/relies on the media server. I think it is not healthy to put web traffic on the media server and it is not convenient from a devops/deployment/security perspective either. I would consider relaxing this requirement and rephrase so that it allows those solutions where the webapp lives separately form the media server itself.

I have the same question as belazs said.

Please explain the "Open Source" term.

Is this month name mismatch a mistake ?

Hi Balazs,

I agree with your concern.

As per my assumptions, uses of WAR file will help the judges to easily and in less time they can setup the participants work.

Hi @Balazs and @rahul7827

As I mention in the first post, this file is a draft and other things like T&C is private and we are working on it. Thank you very much for the feedback about the wrong date. We fixed it.

For the Open Source requirement item, actually, when we are adding it, we thought it was a nice-to-have feature because as Ant Media, we love and support open source but it looks like a requirement, our bad. After you finished your project, you can just send the packaged file. We don't ask for source code. Actually, if you decided to turn your project into a product and started to sell on marketplaces or other places it would be good for us too and it's a win-win scenario.

For this item, I understand your concerns but there are 2 things. First of all, we wanted to standardize formats to make the jury's job easier. The other thing is, we value developing your own web application on top of Ant Media and wanted to show that you can do anything on top of Ant Media Server and this is the real motivation for this event. We cannot change this one.
