24/7 Music Livestream

Question

Hey guys!

I am very new to AntMedia and I am trying to setup a 24/7 Music Livestream that plays a specific playlist. Preferably a Spotify playlist or a YouTube playlist. If that doesn’t work then I’m also fine with collecting the mp3s that I want to play. I just don‘t know if it’s possible to setup a steam like that because the audio and the video file has to be separated.
Sadly I am lacking knowledge in this area so I hope someone can help me with this matter.

With kind regards
Mefumetto

Hi @Mefumetto
I hope you are fine.
Yes, you can create playlist using Ant Media server with mp3 and mp4 files. Kindly checkout the following document:
https://resources.antmedia.io/docs/playlist

Hey!

That looks good but could you tell me if Spotify playlist links or YouTube playlist links would work? I never used the playlist feature before so I don’t know what link you would usually put in there

Hi @Mefumetto
Direct links of Spotify or YouTube will not work in the playlist.
You can upload your mp4 files to the Ant Media Server's VOD section of the application and use the URL in the Playlist. You can also use external URLs.

So just to be sure:

I have to upload the video I want to use to VODs but also the songs I want to use right? Is there a faster way to upload the songs? Because now I have to turn every song into a mp4 file and then insert every song one by one or is this the only way to do it?

HI @Mefumetto
You can put all of your mp3 files in a new folder inside your application's streams directory. After that, you can directly put the URL of that folder in the playlist, as shown below:
http://domain:5080/App-name/streams/mp3folder/file.mp3

I hope it helps.

Hey!

I am sorry for asking so much, I am very new to this but where can I create the folder for the mp3s? I looked into it and couldn't find it.

Hi @Mefumetto
You need to SSH into your server and under /usr/local/antmedia/webapps/App-Name/streams folder, you can create the new mp3 files directory/folder. After that you can give the path of the mp3 folder in the URL that you want to add in the playlist.
http://domain:5080/App-name/streams/mp3folder/file.mp3

I hope it helps.

Just a note. If your media URLs are directly accessible to download the media then you can use FFMPEG to read them and convert to the format of your choice on the fly.
