Caching through CDN for HLS traffic

Question

Hi there,

If I'm serving the HLS stream from Ant Media Server through a CDN, is it gonna cached the stream or all requests are routed to the origin Ant Server?

How can I decide how long the segments can be cached within the CDN without going back to the origin server?

Thanks

Hi giang,

Thank you for the great question. There are 2 things to watch out for.

1- Ant Media Server HLS file expire & cache system is in below.

-.TS extension expire time is 10 seconds and TS files are created once with stream ids.
- .M3UA extension expire time is 2 seconds and this file is always updated.

2- CDN file expire and cache system.

You need to have CDN for HLS live streaming. General configuration of CDN for HLS streaming is likely ok. Just keep in mind the  Ant Media Server HLS Files expire time values mentioned above.

I hope that I was able to answer your queries. If you have any question, please feel free to let us know.
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Selim
