Question

Hi,

I have installed ant media server on the virtual machine. It works fine I am trying to access trough (http://localhost:5080/WebRTCApp/) but it's not working when I am trying to access it remotely (http://192.168.2.154:5080/WebRTCApp/). Also, I as per ant media server blog there need to be SSL to access it remotely.

How to install SSL for localhost  ? or what needs to be done to access ant media server remotely?

Thannks,
Milind

Hi milind.mahajan.satincorp,

Also you should run ifconfig and learn your IP Address. after that, you can access with IP Address in Windows.

You can test WebRTCApp in Firefox Browser. It is allow non-SSL WebSocket Connections.

I hope, I could help you.

Hi milind.mahajan.satincorp,

It's about your browser permissions. Could you please check your browser permissions(audio and video). Also you can test in Microsoft Edge browser.

I'm having kind of the same problem. I installed Ant Media Server in a docker on my Synology NAS. Locally the camera is working and I'm able to paste the embedded URL from Ant Media Server on my website (http://isp.home.ip.adrress:5080). Once I preview the website in my browser the camera is streaming. When I change the URL to https://isp.home.ip.adrress:5080, it won't work when I preview the website in my browser. Even, when I upload my website to my website hosting provider, I get an error and the streaming camera is not shown with both http and https. Looks like a security issue. For your additional information, I installed the nibrev-ant-media-server on my Synology NAS in bridge. Any idea how to solve this issue so that the?

Hi @wrottier
If you want to use HTTPS, you need to enable the SSL certificate. Check, https://antmedia.io/docs/guides/installing-on-linux/setting-up-ssl/
For public SSL certificate, make sure that server has static public IP and mapped to any domain. Once SSL will be installed, your server will be reachable on https://server-domain:5443.

For local, you can generate the self signed certificate: https://antmedia.io/docs/faq/#2-create-a-self-signed-certificate

Hu Yash,

Thanks for your quick response, much appriciated. I assume with server you mean the IP of the Synology NAS that needs to have a static IP address? What do you mean by a domain? Would that be my ISP IP address at home? Or do you mean the IP address of the hosting provider where my website is hosted? Sorry for all these questions, as I'm a newby in IT 😞

@wrottier
The term server refers to your Ant Media Server. To map it to any domain name and generate the SSL certificate, your Ant Media Server must have a public IP address.
If you want to use your AMS embedded URL on a publicly accessible website, you must follow the steps outlined above. As a result, your AMS should be accessible via a public network as well.
