Recover damaged recording?

Question

Hey Guys,

We have an installation of 2.3.0 that has Recording of MP4s turned on. During one performance, there was some network issues which caused the streamer to disconnect and connect multiple times. Out of an hour long show, about 2-3 minutes were recorded. There are two other sets of files here, which I suspect contain the rest of the performance with names like
f077f237d8f4558393dec0635538cea9_1080p.mp4.tmp_extension

f077f237d8f4558393dec0635538cea9_720p.mp4.tmp_extension

f077f237d8f4558393dec0635538cea9_480p.mp4.tmp_extension

I tried just renaming this to .mp4 but it didn't help, VLC won't open it. Is there any way to recover this data?

Hi Konrad,

Since there are a lot of disconnects, the recordings probably weren't be able to finalize. We will investigate if the recorded files can somehow be recovered with ffmpeg library etc. However, Ant Media doesn't provide an official way to recover the corrupt recordings. You might try using third-party tools for them. What is the size of the tmp files?

Regards,
Cem

Hi Konrad,

Thanks for the info. Were you be able to recover a single tmp file or a collection of them? Also, can you try using another recovery tool on the tmp file that you were recovered. I want to know that if only that single file can be recovered or is it about the recovery tool that you were using.
